News – Nation of Patriots 2022

A special thanks to Bill and Jeanette McAffe and Steve and Mary Like in this years NOP events

The Nation of Patriots is an independent, non-partisan, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization formed in 2009
to promote awareness of and financial support to veterans and their dependents, who have served
since 1965 and have at least a 50% VA disability (including PTSD).
Each year the Nation of Patriots organizes a national effort that pays tribute to and honors all of
America’s Armed Forces – Past, Present and Fallen. This united effort is known as The Patriot Tour.
Beginning in mid-May, an escort of motorcycle riders for each state carries the American Flag through all
50 states until its final stop in mid-September.
Our Chandler Elks Lodge has been a major supporter of the NOP in Arizona since 2018 and has
cumulatively raised over $60,000 for grants to veterans in our state. During 2022 our Chandler Elks
Riders, Lodge and Members donated over $16,000 toward this worthy cause. The NOP provides a vital
link for disabled veterans to respond quickly with the resources needed to avoid homelessness, job loss,
family disruptions and other major life issues. Thank you everyone for your truly inspirational support
and a special shout out to Bill and Jeanette McAfee for organizing the personal and business donations
that pushed our giving to new highs.
This year we were honored that Members Steve and Mary Like were designated as the Arizona Flag
Bearers! Together with the other members of the Arizona Flag Escort Team, they took possession of the
NOP Flag in Winslow, AZ and safely carried it to events in Winslow, Show Low, Chandler, Payson,
Williams and Kingman before turning over the Flag to the Nevada Flag Escort and completing their
mission.
We are so proud of the many Chandler Elks Members who welcomed the Flag to our Lodge on July 13. It
was one of the largest events of the Arizona portion of the tour. What a great tribute to American
Patriotism!
